Are You Moving?
If you will be moving out of the district and will not be attending Great Oaks in the fall, please give us a call at (586) 725-2038 to let us know. It is very helpful in planning class sections and materials for the next school year.
Plan on Volunteering This Year?
This year Anchor Bay will be requiring that all volunteers submit a volunteer form before they plan on being in the classroom, going on a field trip, etc. The volunteer form is sent to our Central Administration bldg then sent out for a background check to the Michigan State Police department. There is a volunteer form in your students first day folder.
NCA Information
NCA Building Chairpersons: Mrs. Michalik and Mrs. Froberger
Great Oaks Elementary is in the third year of the five-year North Central Association Accreditation cycle. We are proud to be accredited with NCA, a national, regional accrediting association.
All Anchor Bay Schools have met the criteria to be accredited through NCA. Our teachers have met certification and other special requirements in specific areas. We have developed a school improvement plan and identified strategies and interventions to meet our target goals. During the year our staff will meet monthly to work on the NCA goals. Many of the half days approved by the Board of Education are devoted to workshops that will help teachers implement the strategies and interventions.
The three target goals for Great Oaks are:
- Students will improve their problem solving skills.
- Students will show growth in inquiry and decision making skills utilizing the core democratic values.
- Students will develop writing skills across the curriculum to communicate and express themselves clearly for a variety of purposes.
